Among his other features, Vaughn was one of the best 'insider' writers to escape from Scientology, and his writings on Scientology remain some of the most lucid and accessible to 'wogs'.
His testimony in the Lisa McPherson case most compellingly debunked the Scientology claim that her death was an 'unfortunate accident' at the lowest levels, with Scientology management neither aware nor culpable.
Instead, Vaughn demonstrated that by Scientology's own policies, the highest levels of Scientology must have been informed of the situation, and by deliberate inaction and depraved indifference (if not worse) *allowed* if not 'caused' her death.
